Since I keep my camera's out year round, I think I am getting to know the deer quite well.

I want to start keeping records of the deer. Age, approx weight, Name, sex etc....

I am debating wether to use software, writing a notebook or spreadsheet.

What do you guys do? I am looking for tips etc....

Since I'm in a urban area, I have the same doe's everyday, year after year. My oldest is at least 10 years old this year. Her front leg is messed up from being caught in a fence early in life, so I've always been able to identify her. She's bred Nov 17, 18, or 19th every year and every buck fawn has had an 8 or 9 point rack for their first rack. The last 2yrs she's only had 1 fawn instead of twins. My 6 year old (daughter of the old doe) had triplets this year and is bred Nov 5, 6, or 7th every year. My 4 year old (daughter of the 6yr old) has a hairless spot in the shape of a D on her rump that fills in with hair in the winter. She is bred Nov 6,7,8th. I have another doe with a fawn that showed up this year, but don't know who she is. You'll learn alot about deer if you can watch the same one's year after year and pay attention to their offspring. Unfortunately the buck fawns leave in the fall when they become yearlings, so you'll never know what becomes of them. Most years I even know what bucks bred what doe's. I used to right info down in a notebook, but now I just keep it all in my head.
