It has started in MO
My mom had never killed a turkey before so I told her I would take her on opening morning. I got my 870 20 gauge all set up and it puts out a DEADLY pattern. We got set up on a few birds early but it just wasn't working so we started easing towards a couple that were hammering on the ground. We got within about 80 yds and I called and they both gobbled. We dropped to the ground and had enough time for her to get the gun up and the safety off and they were there. They came in to about 50 yds and started getting nervous because mom moved her gun a little to fast trying to get around a small sapling. I told her to go ahead and shoot, I really thought it was a little to far but I had the 10 gauge lined up on it in case she needed a little help. She shot at that turkey started flopping and she is done till next week. My turn tomorrow! Not sure what her bird weighed but it had a 10 inch beard and 1.25" spurs.
