This past satrdays turkey hunt !

Well this past saturday I took a friend of mine on his first turkey hunt ! He had never tried it before but I think he always wanted to give it a try! Well the morning setup was almost a success ! We had a hen and a small jake fly into our setup! He would have taken the jake but he never gave him a good shot! we also called in a few more birds that hung up out at 100 yrds in the field ! It was fun but around 8:30 we decided to try another spot and so we moved ! We ended up walking up on a few big gobblers and some hens out in a field! We stayed just inside the woodline and got set up ! it only took a few yelps and the 2 yr old bird came in , my friend didnt get the shot off but the bigger gobbler was not far behind! This bird I would have guessed as a 4 yr old bird, It was without a doubt the biggest bird I have seen in the wild ! And at 35 yrds and a wide open shot out in the field he missed ! It was definately fun , But he was sick to his stomach about missing that shot! I know he had fun and I think I have him hooked on this turkey hunting thing now lol ! Mabey I can post a picture of him with his first bird sometime soon !

Sounds like a fun time! Had a good time Sat also. At 6:20 spotted a gobbler moving fast, coming up the powerline. I drew back on him and stopped him, but he only stopped for a couple sec's and turned and went into the woods. Didn't have time to get a shot off. He was heading some where in a hurry for some reason. Had 2 set's of hens go by at different time's. Had 2 really nice gobblers feeding their way to us until the rain picked up and they went to the woods, didn't see them again. The 3 jakes came in at 10 yards, but after seeing the big one's they looked small and didn't shoot one. They hung out in the plot for over an hour. Sunday was a let down, not much gobbling and only saw the jake's and had the neighbor driving the fence rows in a truck with a plastic bucket rattling in the back, blowing on a crow call, trying to get a bird to gobble on someone else's land. He got to our powerline and saw the decoys and sped off. He has 280 acres to our 50 and the neighboring properties are only 10-15, so worry about the birds on your own land! The hens are all nesting and can't get any response with calling. Going to try it again this weekend though.

Sounds like both of you guys had fun! Cant wait to see some more kill pictures! And sodbuster those guys sound a little crazy! I hate when people do that !

I know a few guys who do similar things like that ! There never happy with what they have ! always have to know whats over the property lines!

Sounds like you had a good weekend though! I went this morning and called in one jake but didn't take the shot ! Hopefully he sticks around untill next season! he was actually a large jake if there is such a thing lol ! I would say he had a 4 1/2 inch to a 5 inch beard ! And to me that is a big jake ! He would make a great 2 year old bird !
