Arrow rests
What would you guys choose for your arrow rests??
I have a whisker biscuit on my bow and i love it! Its quiet, and theres nothing that can go wrong with it and they seem to work great for me.
They are a little bit pricey but i say they are worth it!!
what would your pick be??

Re: Arrow rests
When I had a Compound bow thats what I used, before that i used the regular rests. All I can say is I would never buy anything but a whisker biscuit

Re: Arrow rests
I personally have a whisker biscuit, but some of the guys around here have drop-away rests and they really like them. They are a little pricey for me but when i get a nice bow i think i will probably get one of those.

Re: Arrow rests
i have already shot a few bows that have had the drop away rests and they seemed to work allright but they do make some sound when you pull back the bow and a there were also a few times when the arrow came off of the rest and i could just imagine drawing on a giant buck and mabey get a bit nervous and then the bow shakes a bit and the arrow fall out of the rest ! It would ruin the hunt
or mabey a deer is already nervous and you pull back and that little sqeak from the arrow rubbing on the rest spooks the deer and it runs away
now i have never used them while hunting but have shot a few of them while target shooting
Thats just my opinion on them .. i'm sure that they are a good rest and have helped take 100s of deer ! Mabey i should try them for a season and see how they work in the woods!
I would be allot more comfortable using them if they had some kind of a bar across the top to keep the arrow from jumping out .. .. thats why i like the whisker biscuit the arrow is fully surrounded and cannot jump out of move to the side and make a sqeaking sound
But i am looking at a bow at the local gun store its used but still in great condtion and the bow comes with a drop away rest and i will probally test it out while target shooting and see what i think of it! Most likely i will end up adding a whisker biscuit but i guess we will see

Re: Arrow rests
There are some drop away's that have the top bar to contain the arrow. But how could you pop the arrow out between the two bars. Do you draw back really fast or is it easier than it looks. Also the drop aways offer the least resistance and actually give you the best groups and fastest shots. Although with a little reading they do sound like a little louder on the draw but in my opinion it is the best rest out there.

Re: Arrow rests
there are alot of drop aways out there. The best ones wont fall off the rest and have no fletching contact. Just sayin

Re: Arrow rests
The drop away rests that i used were mabey cheapos .. .. mabey the one on the bow i am going to get will impress me more than the last few
the arrows jumped off the top only a few times when we were pulling back a little faster than normal and they also jumped off when we held them sideways .. it isnt a big deal but with the whisker biscuit you can hold the bow upside down and it wont come out of the rest .. but one thing i would like about the drop away rests is they dont have near as much contact with the fletching if any at all that might speed the arrow up a little bit!

Re: Arrow rests
Check out ripcord or QAD rests on cabelas, those should hold the arrow no matter which way u hold the bow.

Checked them out and they do seem like a nice setup to have!!
Re: Arrow rests
I got a new bow and it came with a drop away rest!
The rest has a top bar to contain the arrow .. I like the rest but when i put the arrow in i push the rest in the up postion so that the arrow wont come off while i am drawing wich happened a few times even when i was drawing back smooth .. I like the idea that it has no contact with the fletching (or its not supposed to have)

a good way to tell if your fletching is having contact or not is to sprinkle foot or baby powder on the side of your riser and on your rest, coat it well, then shoot an arrow through it and if some of the powder has streaks in it you know the something on the arrow is hitting it. or so ive heard

Re: Arrow rests
Thanks i will try that and see .. .. I like the dropaway rest but i might end up putting on the whisker biscuit unless i end up really liking the rest . . .
Re: Arrow rests
Which did you go with? My brother and I both have been using a biscuit since they came out and would not use anything else. I believe in K.I.S.S (keep it simple stupid). I want simple things on my bow that can't go wrong. We don't even use a peep sight. We use a kisser button and line the pin up with the edge of the string.ray12 wrote:Thanks i will try that and see .. .. Re: Arrow rests
Well i went with the whisker biscuit ! The other rest works alright and the arrow was unable to fall out to .but for some reason the fletching was catching on the side of the rest and then it tore the fletching off little by little but the arrows were still shooting good.. so i switched to the whisker biscuit and eliminated that problem
I can see that those rests could work real good but they didnt for me Plus if i would have wanted to shoot at a squierrl in a tree the arrow would have went to the top of the rest and not have been accurate but with a whisker biscuit the arrow stays right where it is and its always accurate no matter how you shoot!

Re: Arrow rests
The arrow shouldn't have been falling of your rest unless u were torquing the string or didn't have ur bow straight. Were u drawing back with fingers when the arrow fell off, that could have been the cause for torquing the string. The only reason your fletchings were making contact with ur rest was if it wasn't tuned to your bow properly, but hey, if u like a whisker biscuit, im not gonna stop u from using one.

Re: Arrow rests
Also, unless you are shooting a fat arrow, you actually won'b be able to shoot straight up. the little wiggle room your arrows have in a biscuit actually can change the shot alot.
