Homebrew wireless slave flashes for my S600
I'm having my S600 modified with the sensor switch so it can trigger these extenders. The camera isn't my S600 but you get the idea. The S600 has a excellent flash as you know but, I want the dark lit up. These will be placed left and right of the cam to catch anything way out from the cam. BowGod2 will build the slave flashes for me and Fireman Jim is programming and installing the trigger switch. The night shot is the camera flashing at the tree and setting the slave extender off at the corner of the house back at you for an example.

Here are some pictures from Fireman Jim testing out the wireless white flash extender for me. I'll have the S600 equipped for the extender(s) when I purchase one or 2. They'll set you back $180.00 each. Your cam has to have the necessary equipment inside it to trigger it remember. The camera used was a W290 that has a poor stock flash. The S600 has a stock nuker so the dark area you see here between the extender in the last picture would be filled in with white light!! "We gonna see some thangs" as some put it. Can you imagine 2 or 4 of these set up in a large area or all over in the woods? "I aint skeered"

That's sweet 4 of those would be a bit overkill, but you don't think so do ya?

Re: Homebrew wireless slave flashes for my S600
It depends on the setting really. If I had several I'd mount them just behind the left and right limits of the cameras view and then add in the center areas. In the pines I light up a lot with 1 - V3700. I would set the extenders out at the 60' distance to continue the brightness like Jim did in the last photo.
Flash angle of the extenders would have to be taken in consideration here also. Your camera has to have a super stock flash like the S600 and that's why I chose that build besides the super pic's that model takes. The W290 was dead in the water on this application without a slave in it. This is why my W220 and H70 have V3700's on them and I operate in big open areas sometimes.
With that said, I wouldn't mount it above the camera like I do the other applications unless a slave is not in the camera build. Please remember Jeff, you have to have to hardware inside your build to trigger the multiple extenders too. If I remember correctly, Jim said you could run as many extenders as you want within 100' away!! Unreal. Stadium lighting out there.
I enjoy tinkering anyway so this is a build I can have fun with. The cost isn't fun but, what doesn't cost an arm and leg nowadays?

FallGuy you woke up the "Night Rider" about this trail cam contest stuff. I had Fireman Jim go ahead while he has the S600 installing the extender switch hardware and build one of these extenders for it too.
So when that joker gets here the Mad Max "Night Rider" gang will be ready. The 3 commercial cams will be deployed on the other 800 acres as well. I have to play the season right as I have a turkey live test to shoot HD video on with the DXG 567V.
Fireman Jim will have a new Frankenstein project building a HD video cam for me if hackable and capable of:
Full HD- 1920 x 1080
Tall HD- 1280 x 960
Action HD- 1280 x 720
Photo mode every 1,3,5,10,30 or 60 seconds.
You can thank FallGuy for all of this "Shock and Awe" for contests regardless if I win or not. Feel the wrath of the "NIGHT RIDER"
