Re: Ground hog hunting
Shooting groundhogs w/ a bow is alot more fun than just shooting a target.

I saw my first one not in a trap today. I had my 22 on me but it surprised me and was in its hole before i knew it. Looked like a big one. Ill have to be more careful next time.

Re: Ground hog hunting
This day is very dreary in NorthWest PA but it turned real nice for me about 20 minutes ago. I was randomly shooting at a puddle 300 yds away from a the office window i was shooting from. When i had shot thrice i looked around and at the bottom of the of groundhog haven, aka little shed, I was sure i saw a groundhog head looking out from the underneath. Needless to say my attention flipped fast. I looked at it a little while to determine what it was and waiting for it to move out from underneath the barn. i got impatient and decided just to shoot at it. i shot and felt good but wasnt sure about the accuracy of my gun, a savage .22. The head disapeared. i though i missed but when i went to make sure the hog wasnt hit. i stepped around the corner of the barn and sure enough the hog was there. I hit him right behind the ear. I was proud of my 75 yd. shot at a small sliver of a groundhog head. Hit him right behind the ear and he didnt even struggle.

Re: Ground hog hunting
just got done with a really fun hunt. I left the gun out by the garden near the barn where the chucks live. I had to go pretty fast so i forgot the gun. Later i went out to get it i was halfway across the garden when i looked up and saw a hog staring at me. I made really slow movements and got out of its sight. Then i proceeded to get in the cover of the potatoes and belly crawl the the whole way to the other end of the garden, about 15 yds. I reached out and was able to grab the gun and belly crawled farther till i could see the go through weeds around a pile of dirt. with slow movements i was able to knock him down. As you can see he was pretty small but it was a fun hunt and it needed to be killed for the sake of the garden.

THanks the scratches on the side are from when it once slid down a shingled roof the whole way. It only hampered the looks of the thing. it is a Savage .22 lr
