What's your archery set up?
Wondering what your guys' archery set up is; arrows, broadheads, bow etc.
My setup is a 45# samick sage recurve, easton gamegetter arrows, 175 gr zwickey delta broadheads.

Mine is an incredibly old bow(i believe it is a proline bow it looks something like the pic below without the recurve in the limbs. I know the first owner of it and he is prolly upper thirties, low forties and he got it when he was 13. It has like no let off and it is as loud as a crossbow but i wanna go another year with it and see if i can shoot 2 more deer with it before it is retired), Easton Carbon storm arrows, and the broad heads i am still working on deciding which ones, to many options.

Re: What's your archery set up?
i have an old PSE compound bow that also has almost no let off but i got a good deal on it and the bow shoots great
but this summer i am going to buy a new bow and get one that has some let off
the PSE is able to make a kill shot on a deer but you wont want to shoot much farther than 20-25 yrds and its gona suck when a monster buck is at 35 yrds in a wide open shooting lane haha
i dont have to have a fancy bow , just as long as i feel comfortable with taking shots out to 30 yrds !!

I use an older Horton Ultra Hunter SL Crossbow with Horton 7075-T6 Aluminum Arrows, and Montec G5 100gr Broadheads. I used to use a Darton Maverick Jr. Compound bow but its now to small for me, and borrowing the crossbow from my dads friend who didn't use it anymore.

Cheapskate. No Just kidding, but in my opinion using a compound bow is much more enjoyable and more of a challenge.

Re: What's your archery set up?
I am just using an older HORTEN cross bow , I would really like to get a compound bow since i think it would be a bigger challenge to kill an animal with it!
But for now i am just going to stick with the crossbow untill i run accross a good deal on a compound bow !
The compound bows are Not cheap!! used ones run from 200-400 and thats a decent bow but not top of the line!
I have been watching the local gun store and they have some bows that i would like but for around 800-900 and thats not gona happen right now

Re: What's your archery set up?
The other day I finally got a compound bow I ordered it off of ebay from a guy that said that he bought the bow new back in 08',and adjusted the drawlength but never shot it. When I got the bow it was in the original packaging and box and came with the origanal sights, rest, and quiver. It doesn't look like it's ever been used The sights and rest are going to be replaced, so far I have the sights, but still need to get a new rest. The bow is a Martin Wildcat(similar to the Martin Saber). I shot it a couple times just to see how loud it is, and it is Really queit even though it only has the cat whiskers on the string. So far for $115 I can't complain.
Heres a pic of the Bow

Re: What's your archery set up?
Nice, Looks like you got a good deal. I personally shoot a very loud bow. No matter how much dampening i do. So i know the value of a quiet bow. If i were to be able to shoot a bow before i buy it. I would look almost first for quietness. Man, another bow maybe i should look into. Keep us posted on how well it shoots over time.
