First Archery Buck
Well I connected last night. Was on one of our food plots when this buck came out ten yards from the stand. Took him a couple steps to get turned right but then i put the arrow through him. He only ran fifty yards before he went down. But i didn't see him so we had to a little tracking on him. Double lung with rage, should do it. Not the biggest buck in the world but it is the largest i've got so i am very happy.

Congrats! I'd gladly shoot him. Looks like a big body on that buck. What did you have growing in your plot?

Yeah, this is the buck that was under our apple tree 15 yards from our house. It is in the archives. The plot is made of Brassica. This is definitely the best year it has done.

Btw, about rage. I didn't get a full pass though but my arrow as sticking out the other side. I love the hole it put in the deer. I will be putting it on my arrows for a while.

Re: First Archery Buck
In the latest issue of Petersen's Bowhunting they did a head to head test of 12 expandable heads. In blade sharpness the G5 T3 was last, Rage 2 blade was 5th. Depth of penetration the G5 was in the top with 23-24 inches, Rage was 21in. Hard impact (simulating bone) G5 had broken blades, bent blades, blade edges marred, and bent tip. Rage just had bent blades. In the Zero Penetration test (violent test to show overall strength and durability) G5 had moderate damage and Rage had extensive. Just thought I'd share, sorry to hijack your thread BEAST, congrats again.ray12 wrote:Awesome! i was using rage last year i didnt get a chance to shoot a deer with them but im sure that they would have worked great!!

Re: First Archery Buck
Thats intresting! The blades are razor sharp on mine but i dont have the rage right now to compare them to!
Im sure that the G5 T3s are not the best broadhead out there but if they will kill deer then i will like them

Re: First Archery Buck
They rented a machine from CATRA to measure sharpness. Without it I doubt a person could tell a difference in any of them, except those 7 dollar/3 pk ones they sell at Walmart.ray12 wrote:Thats intresting! The blades are razor sharp on mine but i dont have the rage right now to compare them to!

That is interesting. 21 inches of penatration is definitely enough. Did this test also include the size of hole that the broadhead put in the target.

Yes they measured cutting dia compared to advertised cut dia. Rage (advertise-2in) was 1.911 inches, G5 (adv-1.5in) was 1.335 in. Tests were done with a 29in draw, 65lb draw, PSE X-force dream season bow, Carbon Express Mayhem 350 arrow, shot from a Hooter Shooter shooting machine.
