Moultrie D-55IR Review Kgrhqj10
This camera is in a grey textured case with a trace of brown here and there. It measures seven by nine inches in size with a rounded front door. There are two small plastic clips that hold the door closed against a flat rubber gasket. Strap loops are on the back, you also have the option to use bungee chords(Not Included),and a external battery port is on the bottom. Two battery tubes on the inside of the camera each hold three C batteries with snap in covers. Programming was simple and standard Moultrie style with the L/R and up/down and select in the center. The bottom edge has the SD card slot (up to 16 gig) and the USB/TV out jacks. The specs for the D-55IR are 5mp The other two resolutions are 1.3 and 3.1 MPs. Video is 620X440 and 320X240. The lowest delay is one minute. On the moultrie website there is an update so the delay goes down to 15 sec. The trigger time came in at 2.3 seconds for day and 3.24 seconds with flash. Sensing on a 75 degree day came in at 23 ft. The day range pictures were a little weak on color but fairly good contrast. Night pictures are pretty good as long as the animal is standing still. If there is any movement there is alot of motion blurr. In video mode the camera takes a picture followed by a video. In burst mode there is a 5 sec delay between each picture. Night flash range is 45-50ft depending on the setup. Some people have reported that the camera stops writing pics to the SD card when the battery life gets to 50%, but mine went all the way down to 5% and still wrote to the card. The best thing about this camera IMO is the battery life. With 6 C Rayovacs in the tank the camera took 1656 pics and 100 15 sec vids , and lasted 108 days.

There is a newer model of this camera now, so you can usually get them for $80-100 shipped off ebay.
