Ltl Acorn 5210mm 940nm
Overall this camera seems to be a winner. I've had my unit in the bush 24-7 since August 2011. At first I had some hicups but, seemed to resolve them on my own and with some interaction from other owners. I will say my taste for night illumination is higher than most so the 940nm wasn't enough. I addded a SpyPoint 100IRB extender to couple with it.
This seemed to do the trick as the 30' circle of light turned into a 60'+ daylighter. What a difference. The cam is slow about sending mms (text) images when the cell signal is 2 bars. I have 4 bars where I have mine and it's sent within a minute. I've used different battery compliments from the AA, 6v and 12v. I've stuck to the 6v external and AA Lithiums in the cell pack modem. The external connection will run the cam with all battery wells empty. 12v made the cam act funny so 6v was the ticket. 2-6v SLA's wired in series for longentivity in the field.
I've also used the Ltl Sun 7v solar panel with the cam. It must be in an area where the sun can hit it for hours at a time to fully charge it. Extended days of clouds is not advised for sufficent charge. Heavily canopied locations are also non advised.
The cam will send VGA LQ images over the network saving air time on the cell network. The cam takes 2 pics when in mms mode. Whatever you select in the menu for image resolution will be saved on the SD card also. I use 12mp for better zoomable images.
I've used the cam in a loc box and had no signal degrade from the tower.
I use this cam especially as the onsite reporter and move it around constantly. I have it and the extender mounted permanently to a 4x4 with 4" spikes on the bottom to drive them in the ground when placing it. Very easy to move when needed and no tree needed for that perfect placement. If security on your land is an issue I strongly advise you NOT to mount yours like I do.
If you have questions regarding this cam I'll do my best to answer them if I can. I did see them on special until Jan 10, 2013 at Old Boys Outdoors with a 2 year warrenty!

I've always thought that it would be cool to have an mms cam, but have to use AT&T(We are signed up w/ Verizon), and don't have very good signal here with AT&T. For me it wouldn't be much use to have one, but would still be cool to get a text with a buck on it

Your correct on the cell signal. Just so happens I have 2 towers in eyesight and one just off the 800 acres. I always have 4 or max bars of course and that is a big plus with the mms. I do notice when I go into low spots or bottoms the signal sometimes goes right over the cam and makes it difficult to grab a signal.
It's cool as heck to have your phone sound off to a distinct alert and it's the cam sending you what's going on out there when your miles away. I was in Vegas in August and the pics were rolling in and the wife and I were laughing at that.
I had a sweet 8pt alert it this morning and will post it later as the Dish folks are hooking up the new ISP for me today. He was nice and to know what times and patterns they run is very predictable with this cam. I like the heck out of it now I have the bugs figured out. I used to call it the Ltl Pain in the _ss! LOL
I want to get my hands on the new 6210 model with HD video but, my DXG does a heckava jam up job for cheaper price. NONE of the videos on any Acorns can be sent mms.

Always thought that it would be cool to recieve a picture of a nice buck heading your way while hunting!

I like the suprise everytime when it sounds off. Don't think for a minute that well, "it just went off so it's the same deer going to be seen" as that'll fool you. I set it to every 30 sec at 1 pic setting. I really enjoy the mms over what my others can do. Instant reporter on the scene when you can't be!

I have 3 ltl acorn cams but they are std 5210a models they take great pics, but not great range with decent battery life. I get some great pics I just have to put the cam closer to the trail or scrape then i like.

Jeff, they only send low grade mms images to your phone or email or both. No videos sent cause it eats up too much air time to the tower. They had to stay simple when they made mms cams.
