Big doe down
Got a big FAT doe this morning Was just typical, you take a gun and then deer come within bow range. i was sitting in a stand on the edge of a field, and i look up and theres 5 does coming over the ridge 30yrds in front of me. 3 of them were does from this year and 1 was one from last & then 1 Old doe. I had put some apples around in the field & the young does went straight to em and started eating, but the old doe stood in the treeline. She stood there for 10-15 minutes just looking around, before she came out into the field. Even when she was in the field she was on high alert, the longer she was out browsing the more comfotable she got. I had already gotten my gun up when i first saw her, but couldn't shoot because the sun was shining right on me & I couldn't see anything through the scope, so I had to wait even longer. Once the sun move a bit i could finally see through the scope. She was standing broadside at 20yrds and then BOOM, she ran back over the ridge from where she came from. At first I thought that i had missed, then about 10yrds from where I shot her there was blood. We followed the blood untill we found her. She went about 70 yrds and then fell Was surprised she went that far(Got a double lung ) You could tell it was an old doe because she had NO bottom teeth and her top ones were almost all wore down.
I'll try and upload some pics tonight

Congrats! An old doe is by far smarter than an old buck.

Re: Big doe down
Great job Jeff! We have the same issue down here on the does. We are going to start "Operation Doe Whack" soon as were allowed 2 bucks and 10 does.
Was that a 12 gauge with a 3" slug barrel?

Thanks The does in your area better watch out cause you can use rifles
Its a 12gauge but smooth bore that takes up to 3 1/2" shells. Furthest i've shot with it was 100yrds, but that was just sighting it in. The furthest i've shot a deer with it is about 40. It's also my Turkey Gun
