Sure are. the slave V2800 or V3700 need those 8 batteries on the left. You can use others of course but, I get the best bang for the buck with lithium's in this application. The other 3 lithium's are the control board batteries and the other 3 Duracell's are for charging the cameras internal lithium battery.
I use 8 lithium's because the slaves capacitor is a high drain component and the lithium's have mega power. Always make sure your component can handle the increased voltage of the lithium's prior to installing and turning on!! Jim does not recommend using lithium batteries in the camera recharge bank because the cam, battery or both might not be able to handle the higher voltage.

I can usually get over 1500+ night images per set Jeff. It recharges a larger capacitor than the average trail cam flash does on this build. Big cap = more power drain. I replace the other batteries twice before changing them. Think of a booming car stereo setup needing a big alternator or more batteries and a 1 farad cap.
