Long needle pines finally pop up
Before the land was purchased Plum Creek clear cut the 500 acres and didn't replant like they were supposed to. Usually they'll plant lob lolly pines for replacement. We had a company come in and have guys plant long needle pine sprigs. After 3 years they finally are coming alive. A controlled burn also needs to be done.

Is this on your land?? Once they get big they will be great cover for animals!!

It is Ray. Remember the video I posted driving in on the land? The area to the left and right at the start (a small portion you see in it) before the big open field is where they are planted. We didn't think they'd make it but, a good majority appear to have! We have a lot of bobwhite quail down here than grouse and partridge up North. 4,500 sprigs were "plug planted" 3 years ago.
They love the clear cut and those pines to nest under and hide out in.

If they survive the sprig stage they'll grow twice as fast as the lob lolly does. I'm sure the weather and bugs will do their share but the clear cut will be no more in another 5 - 7 years.

I will Fallguy. These bad boys grow like weeds once their up. I checked some the other day when there and some were still bushy sprigs and some are 6' tall!
