Mounting My M-80 Up High
After my M-80XT was stolen a couple months ago I'm VERY leery about setting out my cameras. But I've slowly moved on and I'm getting right back into it again. I keep remembering what G-Man here told me. He said to conceal.
I found a 10' folding aluminum ladder that is very light and easy to carry. I packed all my gear up and the ladder and hiked about 1/2 mile in to a watering hole I discovered last year. It's a very private place. I've never seen any civilians back there. I should be okay.
Anyway, I used the ladder to mount my M-80 overlooking the watering hole. I'll let the cam soak for at least a month, possibly longer. I'm already itchy to see the results of this set.

That is a SWEET watering hole. I'd love to have a spot like that to hunt. I would stick a salt/mineral lick by it and you'll have every deer in the area using it.

It doesn't last long, though. I was back there in the summer and it was dry as a bone.
Re: Mounting My M-80 Up High
I'm going to let the camera soak for at least a month, possibly two months. It'll be hard to wait that long but I want to leave the place alone for a long time to see what shows up at the watering hole. Stay tuned!!

Re: Mounting My M-80 Up High
The camera should be pretty safe. I have never had any civilians there before. If they want the camera bad enough, the bums will find a way to rip it off. It's a chance I have to take in this addiction. The camera is located a mile from any paved road. It takes a while to get to it through thick brush.
Re: Mounting My M-80 Up High
If there's 2 idiots back there they'll do the redneck extension ladder trick just to get it. The Acorn could've sent ya the pic's ASAP instead of waiting months for a surprise animal or fool that needs their hands cut off for stealing others property.

I really don't think anyone will go back there and steal my camera. I've had cameras back there for two years now and never saw any civilians on them. It's a long hike in from a paved road through some pretty thick stuff. I gotta move on and take the chance of leaving my cameras out.

I hear ya on the moving on. You should've put the Acorn back there for on the spot images and known if the buttheads were there if so.
good luck and looks good.

Re: Mounting My M-80 Up High
If I put my Acorn in there with the little circle of light hahahaha, And it was stolen, it would take me 7 min to drive to the access point and then another 5 min to walk through the thick stuff to hopefully intercept the bums who stole the camera. They would most likely be long gone before I get there.
