What camera to buy ?
I don't have a lot of experience with trail cams but I would like to get a few for this next season
And was wondering what you guys would recommend... I don't want anything fancy just looking for something cheap that takes decent pics
Was looking at maybe the WGI ir2 or something similiar it doesn't have to have an IR flash
Any suggestions

Re: What camera to buy ?
For IR cams some decent cams are either the WGI IR2($40-60 on Ebay) or the Wildview X2IR($40-60 on ebay). For regular flash cameras the Tasco 3mp($40-50 on ebay,$50 at walmart)has 15ft flash range, Bushnell Trail Sentry heres the cheapest i've found Bushnell Trail Sentry. Usually you can find them on ebay for $40-60 I have one and really like it. The biggest downside is battery life. I usually get 2-3 weeks on a set of batteries. If you want any info on the IR2 or the Tasco ask Galen if you want info on the Bushnell you can ask me. If you have any questions on any camera we'll try our best to answer your question Hope this helped

Re: What camera to buy ?
I have both the WGI ir2 and the tasco 3 mp i got the WGI cam for 45.00 on ebay and the tasco for 50.00 at walmart
I have not gotten enough pics with the tasco to say how good it is but as far as the camera i like it ..
And the ir2 that i have is a great little camera so far , it has a decent trigger speed , takes good pics , i like the set up , and its the easiest camera ever to set up!
thats the average night picture that it will take .. as you can see its not the best but if your just wanting to see whats around here ya go
here is a picture so that you can kind of see what the trigger speed is
I chased that squierrl infront of the camera it ran straight across non stop so thats how fast the trigger speed is .. not the greatest but yet its fairly good
The ir2 has an average battery life of 2 1/2 weeks to 3 weeks just depends on how many pics that it takes and temps as well ..
I would also check into the trail sentry or the tasco that J.K. had mentioned since I have seen some of the pics from the bushnell trail sentry and they are great pics!

I also forgot to tell ya the Bushnell has password protection. I keep mine all zero's as i don't have theft problems and its easier to remember. The IR2 is smaller than the Bushnell. The Bushnell being roughly 8-9 inches tall, 5-6 inches wide, and 3 inches deep. The IR2 is about 5 1/2 inches tall, 5 inches wide and about 2 1/2 inches deep. Another thing to note is that the Bushnell requires an SD card(no larger than 2GB)to work. The IR2 doesn't require one to work but,you can still use an SD card up to 2GB if desired. The Bushnell also uses a strap to attach it to the tree, and the IR2 uses bungee chords.

Yes the WGI ir2 does not have to have an SD card but I would put one in it anyways because if you dont the battery life will be way low!
without the SD card the batterys lasted about 5 days to a week for me and thats Not fun having to change batterys every week!!

Re: What camera to buy ?
I don't have the best experiencees with them. One camera the flash completely didn't work and the one I have now the flash only works when its warm. as far as pic quality and trigger speed they are decent.

Re: What camera to buy ?
For $45 they are good but I'd rather spend $5 more and get the Tasco's at Walmart. The Tasco's don't have as much flash range but they are a bit more reliable from wht i've heard and the battery life is better. Also IMO means In My Opinion I think the Tasco also has a 2yr warranty, the s1.3x has a 1 yr warranty

Re: What camera to buy ?
If i had alot of money I'd buy a Reconyx($550) (but i doubt that will ever happen)
But i can't tell you what the best camera out there is All cameras have thier ups and downs. Some suit the needs of others better than it would you, and some cameras would suit you better than it would others.
I can however tell you which cameras i like best that I have . My favorite IR camera is my WGI N6, but for regular flash cameras it would be my Bushnell Trail Sentry
