Sheds

Well it seems the deer around here are starting to drop some antlers !! I found a shed yesterday while taking a walk in the woods !! And I also have some pictures of nice sized bucks with one side left!! Anyone else finding any sheds already??

I've not seen any that have dropped yet around here, but they should be starting.

Hopefully I can find some of the big buck sheds !!

We have 40 mph winds and a few inches of snow every night here so finding sheds have been difficult though most of our big bucks are still holding on to there headgear.

Any nice ones or just smaller sheds ?

Do you ever notice if bigger bucks seem to hang on to there antlers longer then smaller bucks? Or is there no difference in wich drop first??

I notice that the big bucks for sure hold on to there headgear longer than the little ones. Last night I was watching a herd that had 3 bucks that would score 140 or better and them 3 still were holding on to there sheds, while all the smaller bucks dropped already. It surprised me that the big guys were still holding since I really want to go look but don't want to spook them out of there.

What is a good time of the year to go out and look for sheds ? I would like to go out once and find a few then leave the property alone so I don't spook any deer to the next county!! Will almost all of the deer have dropped there sheds by the end of this month ??

Most should drop within the next month or so, but last year a few of my bucks were still holding in early april  

Went out today and found three sheds!! Pics to come I love finding antlers !!

Found a fresh fork with blood and the wax ring. Found only 4 so far. Way behind from last year.

You guys are way ahead of me haha. Theres still to much snow here to find most..

Jeff these sheds were all laying on top of this snow!! Theres a light layer of crusty snow!! They actually stood out like a sore thumb! And I have a few pictures of bucks that have dropped both sides but theres still plenty of bucks that are still holding on to both sides as well!

Went for a little walk today ! Probally around a mile or so and the first 80 yrds into the woods there was a shed laying right infront of me on the path! The rest of the walk was a big ZERO! I seen one other shed hunter there but no fresh tracks on my side of the valley!   Anyone else finding any lately ?? This makes four for the year !

Still have yet to see a buck that has shed. That's a nice clean one you found.

Your way ahead! If I wouldn't have my mind set on killing them darn coyotes.. I would be walking around the woods all day and finding sheds! Its a blast!

We finally found a fresh shed this week. We found 4 while working Friday, only 1 fresh one.
