Small Game Heads
What do ya'll use for hunting small game like groundhogs with a bow. I personally use the the Hammer. I really like it and it has no quality of snaking in grass like a field point has.

I've just used regular broadheads, but my dad's cousin uses these and have worked well for him.Zwickey Judo Pionts

Do you use old broadheads or the ones you use for deer. It seems like the head would get messed up and you would lose money fast.

I use cheap Easton broadheads from walmart. Usually $8-9. I use either Muzzy 100gr or Montec G5 broadheads for deer.

No, usually not, but I have missed a rabbit once and it hit gravel . Went to get it expecting it to be trashed and the tip and blades were fine.

Re: Small Game Heads
I have never tried to shoot any small game with the bow but i went and bought some cheap broadheads from walmart today they were like 6 bucks for 6 of them!
really really cheap ones! so i am going to use them for groundhogs and for birds i will just use the field tips!

The cool thing about SGH's is that it is a lot harder to lose them. Field points tend to bury themselves but SGH's stop pretty fast and also give you a bigger killzone.

Re: Small Game Heads
I reconfirmed my belief in SGH's tonight. I changed the head of my arrow from the SGH to my field point. Right as I was about to shoot at my target i looked over and a grackle was eating in the yard at 20 yds. I decided to shoot and rushed my shot and missed. I looked for my arrow but couldnt find it. I was getting mad at myself for not just letting the bird walk when my toe found the carbon shaft. It was completely buried in the grass. The shot was of the nature that i could not follow the path of my arrow and i rushed it so much that i forgot the position of the blackbird. I am luck my toe hit the right place. I reenacted the shot as best i could with a SGH instead of the field point and i walk out to see where my arrow was and it was laying on top of the grass. Man i love them things. Beast
